Our Youth Leaders attend Division meetings and make a huge difference to our under 18 members by acting as a coach and mentor for various aspects of their lives, such as helping map a future career or setting personal goals. The Kai Rescue Kia Collection Support doesn't drive but supports the driver for collecting, inspecting, loading and delivering perishable and nonperishable product from donors and delivering the food to the Kai Rescue depot. We are looking for someone who has flexibility across the week to relieve our regular volunteers when they are unavailable. The role is quite physical, to would suit people who have a reasonable level of fitness and no injuries.

The Nelson Environment Centre has opportunities for friends or some people who is keen on fashion to price our clothing donations in the ReUse back shop. Knowledge of what are good brands that would attract a high price would be a definite advantage. Most items would be at affordable prices to keep them in circulation but some are directed to our Auction. Come and hang out together with purpose!

New Zealand Red Cross is looking for people who are willing and able to help in their local Red Cross Shops. Volunteering in our Red Cross shops is also one of the best ways to get work experience in the retail industry. In fact, volunteering in one of our shops for at least 3months can help you get your Certificate in Retail from Service IQ. The Nelson Repair Café is a community waste reduction initiative where our repairers share their knowledge and skills with visitors to fix things they might otherwise have to throw away.

The Whakatu Riding for the Disabled Group (WRDA) is situated in the beautiful Brook Valley close to Nelson City. We provide goal based horse riding activities, that increase the abilities, strength and confidence of people with various challenges. Our focus is to make a positive difference and our vision is to reach more riders and to change more lives. We have two qualified coaches and rely on a team of valued volunteers to support our riders.

Do you love helping people? Do you enjoy supporting people in our community? Hearing Nelson is looking for a volunteer to cover our reception and customer service on a casual basis, initially on Thursdays 9.00am – 4.00pm from 17-31 October, followed by Thursday afternoons 12.30 – 4.00pm from 7 November onwards. Duties include basic data entry, EftPos and cash handling.
