The Whakatu Riding for the Disabled Group (WRDA) is situated in the beautiful Brook Valley close to Nelson City. We provide goal based horse riding activities, that increase the abilities, strength and confidence of people with various challenges. Would you like to help change the life of a young person that is at a very pivotal stage of their life? Be a part of a team where you can share your knowledge, life experience, encouragement, and inspire a young person to grow and believe in themselves? Can you spare just 2 hours a week to be part of an amazing journey that will stay with our students for a lifetime? We are looking for volunteers to become a mentor on our life changing programme, Project K.

Come and support our team on some fun overnight trips away for youth with Intellectual Disabilities! A typical weekend is departing mid/late afternoon from our Ellerslie office, and heading off to a fun destination within 2-3 hours drive of Auckland, returning mid afternoon Sunday. Locations are often beach towns or popular tourist spots, where we stay in rented accommodation and participate in fun activities in the area.
