If you are a people person, great listener and enjoy driving, this is the role for you! Supporting clients who would otherwise struggle to get to their treatment, you will help by transporting clients from their homes in Whanganui to either the local hospital, Mid Central Hospital or Hutt Hospital.

At the heart of this role is really the ability to communicate and to be a 'people person' and enjoy time in the company of others. As well as sharing the reading material via the library trolley, this role is focused on sharing other information about what is happening in their local community about what other services are available to patients when they leave hospital. It's the ability to share and really make a patient's day by giving them some time to connect.

This position is central to facilitating access to the hospital by driving the Shuttle Buggy and offering friendly and courteous transport for patients and visitors between the car park and the entrances. We need flexible, skilled, physically fit volunteers who have an ability to use initiative to meet the needs of patients and visitors safely. We operate morning and afternoon shifts of 4 hours on a monthly roster, so you can volunteer as little or as often as you like.
