Do you have a current pilot’s license or have a history in the aviation sector? If so, you could add significant value to one of Coastguard’s two Air Patrol units, based in Ardmore and Kerikeri. As Coastguard’s eyes in the sky, Air Patrol volunteers provide aerial search and observation support across the upper North Island. At present, Coastguard Northland Air Patrol is looking for experienced pilots and air crew to join the team.

Coastguard New Zealand exists to save lives at sea, we are there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year for the people of New Zealand. Our vessels are manned completely by volunteer crew who would drop everything at the drop of a hat to save you if you needed it, Without the selflessness of these 2000+ active volunteers we would simply not exist.

Coastguard’s Units have a Treasurer who is responsible for overall financial management for the Unit and provides the Unit’s Board with information to enable them to make sound financial decisions. As all of Coastguard Units are financially independent of the main national organization, Treasurers play a vital role in maintaining key relationships with external suppliers, auditors, financial advisors, sponsors, donors as well as Coastguard New Zealand.

Coastguard Units have a secretary who plays a key part in keeping the Unit running smoothly! They’re responsible for record-keeping and management of correspondence and administrative support to the Unit Committee. Secretaries are an important part of every Unit’s ability to keep everyone abreast of what is happening – from Unit Committee members and Unit volunteers as well as Coastguard New Zealand.
