Social Media & Outreach Volunteer

Purpose
Help grow volunteering across the Bay of Plenty by promoting volunteering, connecting with community organisations, and raising awareness of Volunteering Services.
What you'll achieve
As an Outreach Volunteer, you'll help us:
- Raise awareness of Volunteering Services as the first point of contact for volunteering in the Bay of Plenty.
- Encourage more people to volunteer.
- Grow our volunteer newsletter community.
- Re-engage inactive member organisations and encourage them to advertise volunteer opportunities.
- Increase the number and variety of volunteer roles available to the community.
About the role
You'll work alongside the Volunteering Services team to promote volunteering and support our relationships with volunteer-involving organisations.
Your tasks may include:
- Creating engaging social media content using Canva for Facebook and Instagram.
- Promoting volunteering to different online community audiences.
- Encouraging online audiences to visit the Volunteering Services website and subscribe to our volunteer newsletter.
- Contacting prospective and inactive member organisations by phone or email to introduce our services and encourage them to connect and post volunteer opportunities.
- Updating outreach records and providing feedback to the team.
Time commitment
- Approximately 2–3 hours per week.
- Flexible hours that can be completed around your schedule.
- Work remotely from home using your own computer or laptop.
Skills and qualities
We're looking for someone who:
- Enjoys creating engaging social media content.
- Has experience using Canva.
- Communicates confidently by email and phone.
- Has good customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Is organised, reliable, and self-motivated.
- Can work independently while remaining connected with the team.
- Has good written and spoken English.
Requirements
- Access to your own computer or laptop and a reliable internet connection.
- Ability to work remotely.
- Availability to volunteer for at least six months.
