The Greenhithe Community Trust Ecology group works with residents and volunteers to protect and enhance the local environment through community-led conservation efforts. Our motto is "Looking after your backyard & beyond: There's a role for everyone". We aim to foster kaitiakitanga (a sense of guardianship), by building a sustainable, connected community that actively cares for its natural surroundings. With 5 active Friends groups caring out pest plant control, native planting and pest control, they are helping to protect native wildlife. There are opportunities for volunteers to help out at Reserve Care mornings or in looking after a trapline in some of Greenhithe's more remote bush areas.
