The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary is a pest free ecological community project that aims to restore the wildlife within its 700 hectares of native bush. This includes wildlife that is already at the Sanctuary as well as bringing back species that have been lost from the area such as tuatara and kiwi. A wide range of volunteer roles are available at the Sanctuary, from working out in the bush to greeting the public in the Visitors Centre.
