Location: Tauranga/WBOP Commitment: 1-3 hours per week/Fortnight (on an agreed day and time)

About the Role: We are looking for compassionate, reliable volunteers to join our team as Companion Sitters for individuals living with dementia. This vital volunteer role provides much-needed respite for full-time family carers by offering companionship and support to the person living with dementia for three hours each week. You’ll be helping to improve the quality of life for both the person with dementia and their family by providing care, engagement, and activities during the absence of the home carer.

Key Responsibilities:

**Weekly Visits: **Provide a 1-3 hour visit to an assigned client's home once a week/fortnight on a mutually agreed day and time. Companionship and Support: Engage with the person living with dementia through conversation, activities, and companionship, tailored to their abilities and needs. Respite for Carers: Allow full-time family carers to take a break while knowing their loved one is being cared for in a safe and supportive environment. **Training: **Participate in all required training to become a Companion Sitter for Alzheimers Tauranga, ensuring that you are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for the role. Who We're Looking For:

Empathetic & Patient Individuals: We are seeking volunteers who are compassionate, understanding, and respectful of the needs of people living with dementia. **Reliable & Committed: **A commitment to providing consistent weekly support is essential for the role. **Experience (Preferred, but not essential): **Experience in healthcare, caregiving, or working with people living with dementia is an advantage but not a requirement.
