About Us

Jubilee Budget Advisory Service is a Christian‑centred community non-profit organisation providing free budgeting advice, advocacy, crisis support, and financial mentoring across Southland. Our vision is “to be the trusted choice for free budgeting advice, advocacy and education providing hope and practical options through a skilled and dedicated team.”

Last year, JBAS supported 1,016 clients through 3,718 mentoring sessions, helping individuals and whānau build confidence, stability, and long‑term financial wellbeing.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking committed, community‑minded individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a Director, you will help guide an organisation that provides essential, practical support to people experiencing financial stress.

You will contribute to:

● Strategic direction and long‑term sustainability

● Governance and compliance

● Oversight of financial performance and organisational risk

● Policy development and monitoring

● Supporting the General Manager and leadership team

● Upholding JBAS’s values of dignity, hope, and practical empowerment

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome expressions of interest from people who care deeply about strengthening financial wellbeing in our community. Skills or experience in any of the following areas would be particularly beneficial:

● Governance & leadership

● Finance, accounting, or audit

● Human resources

● Risk management

● Community services

● Legal or compliance

● Fundraising & stakeholder engagement

We also value lived experiences and community support work, as these perspectives strengthen

our governance.

Time Commitment

● Monthly Board meetings

● Reviewing Board papers

● Occasional committee or strategic planning work
