Volunteer Comms & Content Lead

Third Culture Foundation | Tauranga / Remote Friendly

Third Culture Foundation is looking for a creative, organised Volunteer Comms & Content Lead to help us tell our stories clearly and consistently across our digital channels.

We work across culture, community, youth development and creative pathways, including initiatives such as Kaitiaki, PATHWAYS and our Guardian donor campaign.

A lot is happening across the Foundation. This role will help turn that activity into clear, engaging communications that help people understand our work, follow our progress and stay connected.

What you'll do

You’ll work with the Foundation team to develop and schedule approved communications using stories, updates, photos and programme material we already have.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Creating and scheduling social media content
  • Helping communicate Foundation programmes, events and opportunities
  • Turning programme updates into clear, engaging posts
  • Supporting communications for the Guardian campaign
  • Helping prepare short donor and community impact updates
  • Coordinating approved photos, stories and testimonials
  • Maintaining a simple content calendar
  • Keeping messaging consistent across Foundation channels
  • Helping identify strong stories from our programmes and community
  • Repurposing existing content across different platforms
  • Supporting occasional email or newsletter communications
  • Working with the team to ensure consent is in place before publishing personal stories, photos or quotes

You will not be expected to create large volumes of content from scratch. Wherever possible, the role will use existing programme material, stories and assets.

Time commitment

Approximately 3–5 hours per week, with flexibility around when the work is completed.

The role can largely be done remotely, although volunteers based in Tauranga or the wider Bay of Plenty may also have opportunities to attend selected programmes or events.

We are looking for someone who can ideally commit for at least six months and help us build a consistent communications rhythm.

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A clear and confident writer
  • Creative, organised and reliable
  • Comfortable with social media and digital content
  • Able to turn rough information into clear, engaging communications
  • Comfortable working independently within agreed messaging
  • Respectful when handling community stories and personal information
  • Interested in culture, community, youth development or creative work

Experience with social media, content creation, communications, marketing, Canva, photography, video, newsletters or nonprofit communications would be useful, but isn’t essential.

About Third Culture Foundation

Our work is focused on helping people access relationships, experiences and opportunities that can continue beyond individual programmes or events.

What you'll gain

You’ll gain practical experience in:

  • nonprofit communications
  • content planning
  • social media
  • storytelling
  • campaign communications
  • community engagement
  • brand and message development

You’ll also help us build a stronger communications system so that the impact of our work doesn’t disappear once a programme or event ends.

Applying

Please send us a short introduction covering:

  • why this role interests you
  • any relevant communications or content experience
  • your general availability
  • any examples of your work, portfolio or social media experience if available
  • whether you’re based in the Bay of Plenty or would prefer to contribute remotely

A CV or portfolio is welcome but not essential.

We’re primarily looking for someone creative, dependable and genuinely interested in helping communicate meaningful cultural and community work.
