Donations & Fundraising Lead
Third Culture Foundation supported by Volunteering Services (BOP)
Volunteer Donations Lead
Third Culture Foundation | Tauranga / Remote Friendly
Third Culture Foundation is looking for a thoughtful and organised Volunteer Donations Lead to help us care for the growing community of people who support our work.
We are preparing to launch our Guardian campaign, beginning with a milestone of 30 monthly Guardians supporting the Foundation’s year-round PATHWAYS work.
PATHWAYS helps sustain mentoring, guidance, relationships and access to creative, cultural, educational and practical opportunities for young people and culturally diverse communities.
What you'll do
You’ll help provide a warm, organised and respectful experience for donors and prospective Guardians.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to donor enquiries
- Welcoming and thanking new Guardians and one-off donors once donations are verified
- Maintaining our simple donor tracker
- Recording communication preferences and follow-up actions
- Following up appropriately with people who have expressed interest
- Coordinating with finance/bookkeeping to confirm donor status where needed
- Reviewing new donors and outstanding follow-ups each week
- Helping prepare a short monthly Guardian impact update using existing Foundation material
- Recording permissions for any public donor acknowledgement or stories
- Helping improve the donor-care process as the Guardian community grows
You will not be responsible for bookkeeping or financial reconciliation, and you will not be expected to personally secure major donations. Major-donor conversations will remain with Foundation leadership.
Time commitment
Approximately 3–4 hours per week initially, with flexibility around when the work is completed.
The role can largely be done remotely and may include time for donor welcomes, follow-ups, coordinating status information and helping maintain the monthly Guardian update.
If the campaign grows significantly, we’ll agree priorities and additional support rather than simply increasing the volunteer workload.
Who we're looking for
You don’t need previous charity fundraising experience.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Warm and confident communicating with people
- Organised, reliable and comfortable following up
- Able to keep simple records accurate
- Discreet when handling personal information
- Comfortable using email, shared documents and online tracking systems
- Able to work independently while keeping the Foundation team informed
- Interested in community, culture, youth development or creating opportunities for others
Experience in donor care, fundraising, customer relationships, administration, community engagement, communications or CRM systems would be useful, but isn’t essential.
About Third Culture Foundation
Third Culture Foundation is a New Zealand charitable organisation creating cultural connection, community programmes, youth development and creative pathways.
Our work includes initiatives such as Kaitiaki and our broader PATHWAYS approach, which helps people continue accessing relationships, experiences and opportunities beyond individual programmes or events.
What you'll gain
You’ll have the opportunity to help build an important part of a growing charitable organisation.
You’ll gain practical experience in donor stewardship, fundraising systems, relationship management, community engagement and nonprofit operations.
Most importantly, you’ll help us build a donor-care system the Foundation can continue using as it grows.
Applying
Please send us a short introduction covering:
- why the role interests you
- any relevant experience
- your general availability
- whether you’re based in the Bay of Plenty or would prefer to contribute remotely
A CV or LinkedIn profile is welcome but isn’t essential.
We’re primarily looking for someone reliable, thoughtful and genuinely interested in helping us build strong relationships around the Foundation’s work.
