Why does coastguard need you?

Coastguard New Zealand is available 24/7, every day of the year, ensuring everyone can enjoy Aotearoa New Zealand's waters safely. Our Rescue Vessels are operated by dedicated volunteers who generously give their time, and who are always ready to use their skills when needed. Without these amazing volunteers nationwide answering the call of their communities, New Zealand would not have a maritime search and rescue service.

We keep the community safe on the water, catering to seasoned boaties, kayak enthusiasts, jet skiers, and paddleboarders.  Coastguard is here for everyone, and we rely on the generosity of the public, sponsors, and the commitment of our volunteers to make it happen.

That's where you come in. We need your help to expand our fundraising efforts, support various community activities, and strengthen the connection between Taranaki Coastguard and their local community.

  • A relationship-builder.

What benefits can I expect?

  • An exciting and challenging role.
