Our curtain bank volunteers use their skills to help people living in cold houses, by relining and up-cycling old curtains.

Keeping homes warm with appropriate curtains is essential to maintaining health and wellbeing. Our curtain bank volunteers use their skills to help people living in cold houses.

We operate on an as-needed basis from 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10.00am to 3.30pm on Saturdays.

Role Description

  • Collecting donated curtains.
  • Sorting and measuring curtains.
  • Fixing and altering curtains that need mending.
  • Re-lining used curtains.
  • Packing and distributing orders.

Volunteer requirements and training

  • You will be volunteering with a small, tight-knit team who provide support and training.
  • Volunteers are required to complete short online Health and Safety modules.
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Sewing knowledge is helpful but not essential, as there are a variety of tasks involved in the role.
