Coastguard Unit Training Coordinator Volunteer - South Taranaki
Volunteering for Coastguard is a team effort – requiring just as much precision and effort off the water as it does in the midst of a rescue off the Taranaki coast. Coastguard South Taranaki is looking for a Unit Training Coordinator to help manage and plan our training content for our strong unit of volunteers. There is no on-water requirement for this role nor prior necessary experience with boats.
If you have a few hours a week to give or just a few weekends a year, your contribution to Coastguard South Taranaki will support our rescue vessel crew save lives at sea – all without getting your feet wet.
As one of New Zealand's 63 Coastguard units across Aotearoa, Coastguard South Taranaki, maintains, and operates two dedicated rescue vessels. These amazing volunteers respond to the call for help 24 hours a day 7 days a week out beyond South Taranaki Bright and Cook Strait. Last year, Coastguard South Taranaki volunteers responded to 4,600 calls for help, and are the reason people came home safely.
What we’re looking for from you?
- Previous experience and understanding of databases and record keeping
- Training gap analysis understanding would be an advantage
- Brilliant administration and organisational skills
- Experience with Microsoft Teams and good computer literacy
- Task-oriented, team-driven individual with strong communication skills
- Passion for maritime safety with engagement in Coastguard's values and goals
