Shama Ethnic Women's Trust supported by Volunteering Services (BOP)

We are seeking a passionate Sewing Volunteer to teach small group classes (4–7 women) of ethnic women from diverse backgrounds. This role is a chance to share your sewing skills while contributing to the empowerment women in our community. Basic sewing skills are good enough for this role

  • Plan and deliver sewing classes to a small group of women, ensuring sessions are engaging, inclusive, and supportive.
  • Assist participants in completing sewing projects, adapting teaching methods to suit varying skill levels.
  • Encourage confidence, creativity, and skill development in participants.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and respectful learning environment aligned with Shama’s values.
  • Help prepare materials and tidying up the space after classes.

Skills and Experience:

  • Basic tailoring skills.
  • Experience in teaching or mentoring groups is preferred but not essential.
  • Patience, good communication, and the ability to work with women from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Currently our sewing classes are held on Thursday from 12 pm to 2 pm at the Shama ethnic women's Trust centre on 365 Cameron road.
