About the Role

Spectrum Connections Charitable Trust is seeking an experienced and community-minded Chairperson to provide independent governance leadership to our Board of Trustees.

Working alongside the General Manager, who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Trust, the Chairperson ensures the Board fulfils its governance responsibilities and supports the long-term sustainability of the organisation.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with governance, leadership, business or not-for-profit experience who is passionate about strengthening outcomes for neurodivergent individuals and their families.

Key Responsibilities

As Chairperson, you will:

• Chair two Board meetings each year.
• Provide governance leadership to the Board of Trustees.
• Support the General Manager and organisational performance.
• Review financial and operational reports through monthly governance check-ins.
• Ensure the Trust meets its legal, financial and governance obligations.
• Promote sound decision-making, transparency and effective governance.
• Support the Board's strategic direction and long-term sustainability.

Time Commitment

Approximately 2–4 hours per month, including:

• Two in-person Board meetings each year.
• A monthly 30–60 minute governance check-in with the General Manager.
• Review of Board papers and governance documents as required.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone with:

• Previous governance, Board or senior leadership experience.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Financial literacy and sound judgement.
• An understanding of good governance principles.
• A collaborative and ethical approach.

Experience in the not-for-profit, health, education or disability sectors is welcomed but not essential.

Candidates with lived experience would be welcomed.
