Location: Nelson–Tasman **Sector: **Community Services / Not for Profit Type: Voluntary Governance Role

Helping Families Nelson is seeking additional Board members to support the strategic growth and sustainability of our organisation. We provide essential goods to families, children, and caregivers across Nelson and Tasman who are experiencing genuine financial hardship. From our Lower Queen Street headquarters, we distribute clothing, bedding, household items, school uniforms, shoes, and baby equipment to whānau in need.

Our kaupapa is grounded in compassion, fairness, and practical action. We are looking for people who value integrity, collaboration, and community led solutions, and who are motivated to contribute to the wellbeing of vulnerable families in our region.

Earlier this year we appointed a fulltime Manager and completed comprehensive reviews of our operations, policies, procedures, and foundational documents. With strong systems now in place, we are well positioned to strengthen our governance by appointing several additional Board members.

Demand for our support continues to grow, and families are presenting with increasingly complex needs. Strengthening our governance will ensure we can respond strategically, sustainably, and with the dignity our whānau deserve.

This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute your skills to a high impact local charity. Our current Board of four brings experience across charitable, public sector, and commercial governance. Whether you are an experienced governor or looking to develop your governance capability, you will find a supportive and collaborative environment committed to mentoring emerging governors.

We welcome expressions of interest from people with a range of skills and backgrounds, including (but not limited to) finance, legal, HR/people leadership, community development, fundraising, communications, and lived experience of the challenges our families face.
