Animal Care Assistant - Taupō Centre

As an Animal Care Assistant, you’ll help create a safe, clean, and caring environment for animals on their journey to recovery and adoption. Whether you're prepping meals, refreshing bedding, or giving some gentle cuddles, your time will directly impact their wellbeing

Key Tasks:

Cleaning animal enclosures to maintain hygiene

Preparing food and feeding animals

Restocking supplies and keeping areas tidy

Walking dogs

Providing gentle enrichment and socialisation for animals

Taking care of small animals - guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and birds

Traits & Skills:

Comfortable around cats and dogs

Reasonably fit (cleaning and bending involved)

Reliable and consistent

Willingness to get a little messy in the name of love

Great team player with a positive attitude

Purpose & Impact:

Your help allows the SPCA team to focus on veterinary care, adoptions, and emergency rescues. Every shift means more tails wagging and more animals thriving on their journey to new homes!

Time Commitment:

A regular 4-hour shift once a week, ideally in the morning between 9AM and 1PM. You’ll join a roster based on your availability - flexibility is a bonus!
