Greening Taupo supported by Volunteer Great Lake Taupō
Roll up your sleeves and help Greening Taupō keep the Green belts free of pesky invasive weeds! The "Wicked Weeders" are a fun, social group of passionate locals who come together each week to care for Aotearoa’s native biodiversity.
What you’ll do:
Pull invasive weeds threatening native plantings
Learn how to identify local plant species
Enjoy light gardening in a calm and beautiful setting
Share morning tea with like-minded nature lovers
Traits & Skills:
No prior experience needed! Just bring:
A positive attitude
Love of the outdoors
Willingness to get your hands a bit dirty
Basic physical fitness (bending, kneeling, pulling weeds)
The Impact:
Your mahi helps protect young native plants and supports wildlife that depend on this restored habitat. It's meaningful work that contributes to the health of the land and community.
Time Commitment:
The Wicked Weeders meet each Tuesday at different sites
Summer hours 9:30am - 11:30am (Oct thru May)
Winter hours 12.30pm - 2.30pm (April thru Sept)

How to Join:
Click the apply button and we will get all the information to you. Then you can just simply turn up on the day! Remember to bring gardening gloves and wear sturdy shoes. All other tools and guidance are provided.
