School Term Horse Side Walker

Taupō District Riding for Development is a charitable organisation that provides therapeutic, educational and social horse-riding programmes. These sessions are designed to improve confidence, self-esteem, muscle strength, and coordination in children and adults with physical, intellectual or learning challenges.

The Opportunity: We’re on the lookout for energetic, kind-hearted people to join us as Side Walkers during school terms. This is a hands-on, meaningful role working directly with both horses and riders in a beautiful Taupō setting.

Whether you're brushing a mane, guiding a horse, or simply sharing encouragement during a riding session - your presence creates real change.

Tasks/Duties Include:

Walking beside riders to ensure safety and support

Leading and handling horses during sessions

Grooming and caring for horses

Assisting with games and activities during sessions

No experience required - full training provided!

Time Commitment: Weekday mornings only: Tuesday - Thursday, 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM (during school terms only)
