We’re on a mission to turn shiny waste into warmth! At the Taupō Chip Packet Project, we create survival thermal blankets and ponchos from discarded chip packets, and we need your help fusing them into 2-metre-long strips.

What you'll do:

Join our Fusion Fun Days every two months for a 2-hour session at St Paul’s Church, Taupō

Learn how to fuse cleaned chip packets using an iron

Take your new skill home and fuse while watching TV, listening to music, or catching up with friends

Return your finished strips at your own pace, every piece counts!

Skills & Traits:

No experience needed - just a can-do, crafty attitude!

Patience and attention to detail help, but we’ll show you the ropes

A love for sustainability and helping others is a big plus

Why it matters: These fused strips are used to create insulated thermal blankets and ponchos for people experiencing homelessness or living in vulnerable situations. By keeping someone warm and dry, you're literally helping save lives!
