Our Volunteers serve in different capacities depending on their skills, interests and other commitments. Most people who volunteer for Coastguard want to make their contribution out on the water, but there are also plenty of shore-based opportunities for volunteers to support their local community. Shore Crew No need to be a boatie to get involved, we always need 'can do' people supporting us. If you have skills in administration, fundraising, social media, or health and safety, we welcome your experience. Committee Crew Each of Coastguards units is self-governed, with roles responsible for governance and administration. If you have previous experience in governance, record-keeping and/or financial reporting, you can make a difference. Rescue Vessel These Volunteers are the ones out on the water, making sure New Zealand boaties stay safe. Full of physical challenges and the priceless opportunity to save lives on the water.
