Safe Turangi is a non-profit community organisation developed from the previous Turangi Tongariro Safer Community Council model, which was set up to meet some of the social needs facing our local population, due to the demographic size and isolation of the Turangi Community.
Our primary goals are to provide an incubator for community led development, lead projects that support a proud, safe and connected community and to strategically connect resources and talent to support the community.
With our strong committee of like-minded people, we strive to drive programmes that support our community where it has been highlighted by our Community Partners, such as Police, FENZ, Hato Hone St John, Community Patrol, Neighbourhood Support and Tuwharetoa Health.
We also provide a central headquarters as an information gathering point for the public outside of 'organisational walls' with the intention that the community will feel more comfortable if they are having any issues concerning their safety and security.
