Logo for Volunteer Great Lake Taupō

We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Repair Specialist to join our passionate crew at the Taupō Repair Café – a welcoming community event where locals bring in broken household items and get help fixing them for free.

What you’ll do:

Assess and repair small household appliances (toasters, lamps, radios, etc.)

Explain basic electrical faults to visitors and encourage DIY learning

Work alongside other volunteer fixers and greeters

Contribute to a circular economy and environmental sustainability

Who we’re looking for:

You’ve got solid experience in electronics or electrical repair (qualified or DIY wiz!)

You’re confident with tools and safety

You love sharing knowledge in a friendly, helpful way

Bonus if you hold an electrical qualification (but not essential)

Why it matters: Every repair you help with keeps an item out of landfill and helps our community value reuse and repair. Your skills can light up someone’s day (and their old desk lamp too)!

Time commitment: 3 - 4 times per year on a Saturday (around 3–4 hours per session), with a flexible and relaxed schedule.

What you’ll get out of it:

  • Meet other passionate locals

  • Share your skills and learn from others

  • Help reduce landfill waste

  • Be part of a positive community movement

How to get involved: Just click below to learn more or express your interest. We’d love to hear from you!
