Join our Curtain Bank Team!
We are looking for volunteers to support the Curtain Bank on Main Street, Palmerston North.
We need volunteers who can sew, and volunteers who can help sort, measure, and pack orders
We produce new curtains, as well as up-cycling donated curtains that we re-line before distributing them.
We're looking for:
- Sewers to help re-line upcycled curtains.
- Organizers extraordinaire to sort, measure and pack curtain orders.
- No experience? No problem! We provide all the training you'll need.
The Curtain Bank is open Wednesday and Friday 10.00 AM - 2.00 PM, and we're on a mission to up-cycle donated curtains to create warm, eco-friendly solutions for local homes. We are planning to open the Curtain Bank on other days in the future.
Role description
Keeping homes warm with appropriate curtains is essential to maintaining health and wellbeing. Our curtain bank volunteers use their skills to help people living in cold houses.
Your Tasks
Your volunteer role will include:
- Collecting donated curtains.
- Sorting and measuring curtains.
- Fixing and altering curtains that need mending.
- Re-lining used curtains.
- Packing and distributing orders.
Volunteer requirements and training
Sewing skills preferred. Training provided. Time commitment will vary from region to region, depending on curtain bank opening hours, and volunteer availability.
