Associate Advocate
Advocate Associates play a crucial role in providing a source of expert advice to Citizen Advocate Office Staff and Advocates.
What is an Advocate Associate? Advocate Associates are individuals who, while not directly involved in a long-term advocacy role, believe in the principles of Citizen Advocacy and are willing to share their expertise on a periodic basis. They assist our volunteer advocates, coordinator and Board members by being available to provide specialist advice and support within their area of expertise.
How can you help?
As an Advocate Associate, you'll offer your skills, talents, and expertise to support Citizen Advocates who are advocating for individuals with learning disabilities. Your contributions may include: • Providing specialist advice in areas such as law, budgeting and financial planning, housing, employment, medical, or education. • Networking to connect Advocates with influential individuals or organizations. • Sharing your knowledge of government agency processes, legal matters, or financial planning. We're seeking individuals with expertise in: • Education • Finance, insurance, and banking • Individualized funding • Addictions, Counselling, Psychology and Mental health • Vocational guidance • Housing • Social work • Speech Therapy & NZSL Interpreters • Legal issues • Allied health therapies
