Citizen Advocacy Auckland is a not for profit, independent, community based programme covering all of Auckland. We focus on people with learning disabilities who are isolated, vulnerable, have limited social connections and significant unmet needs. We assist by creating and supporting volunteer relationships between suitable community members and the person who would benefit from support. Citizen advocacy Auckland establishes relationships between a person with a disability and a community member who will: • Make a long-term commitment to the person with a disability; • to meet some of that person’s needs as if they were their own. Citizen Advocates come from all walks of life, and each bring a range of life experiences and expertise. Citizen Advocacy can be fun, a source of personal development, a chance to give back to the community, build friendships and use your areas of expertise, strengths and skills. Most importantly, YOU can make a difference in someone else’s life.
