If you have a few hours a week to give or just a few weekends a year, your contribution to Coastguard South Canterbury will support our rescue vessel crew save lives at sea – all without getting your feet wet.

As one of New Zealand's 63 Coastguard units across Aotearoa, Coastguard South Canterbury, maintains, and operates their own dedicated rescue vessel. These amazing volunteers respond to the call for help 24 hours a day 7 days a week across South Canterbury. Last year, Coastguard South Canterbury volunteers responded to calls for help, and are the reason people came home safely.

What we’re looking for from you?

  • Previous experience and understanding of databases and record keeping
  • Training gap analysis understanding would be an advantage
  • Brilliant administration and organisational skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and good computer literacy
  • Task-oriented, team-driven individual with strong communication skills
  • Passion for maritime safety with engagement in Coastguard's values and goals
