Kai Rescue which involves rescuing food that is good enough to eat but not good enough to sell and redistributing the food to charities who work with those in need.

The Pick Up Support with Kai Rescue supports the driver in collecting, inspecting, loading and delivering perishable and non-perishable product from donors and delivering the food to the Kai Rescue depot and/or partner agencies as determined by the Centre Manager. Maintaining positive relationships with donors, partner agencies and the community as a whole is a key part of this role.

At the moment, we are looking for someone regular on Mondays or Wednesdays or Thursdays (Thursdays from June aor around 3 months)(7am - 10.30 am, possibly later) and another volunteer/s for back up for our regular volunteers across the week, so it's not a regular commitment but ideally, you are available some weekday early mornings.

You will be physically fit to that lifting boxes of Kai up to 20 kgs is fine; ability to build good relationships with our generous kai suppliers. Skills and experience: • Food handling experience preferred • Excellent relationship building and customer service skills • Ability to learn computerised data input technology • Ability to adapt to varied work requirements • Ability to positively promote the food rescue and increase donations through positive donor relationships and education about best practice for donors • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff and volunteers • Tact and diplomacy in dealing with diversity and adversity • Ability to speak and write English • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision
