Presbyterian Support Enliven have their Day Programmes the Totara Club and the Harakeke Clubs in Christchurch. These programmes give older people from the community an opportunity to meet up with others and share activities and experiences. The programmes aim are to keep people socially active and enjoy their time away from home. The clients attend the Day Programmes at least once a week. The Morning shift is from 8:45am - 11:00am or Afternoon shift is from 2:30pm - 4:30pm. The commitment is one shift a week either a morning or afternoon. This is a critical role in the team. You may be the first person the client sees in the morning and the last person in the afternoon. It is really important that you are able to reassure the person and support them safely to and from the van to their home. The Van Assistant travels in the front of the van with the Driver. There is also someone with the clients at all times. You will ensure that the clients have everything they need for their day including their house keys. There are approximately 6 clients in each van. The clients chat to each other in the van and there can be some lively conversation. This a fun role and a warm caring personality is what is needed. No experience in this role is required. The training will be given on the job.
