Volunteer Opportunity: School Outreach and Partnerships Officer
About NZCEDA
The New Zealand China Education Development Association (NZCEDA) is a non-profit organisation registered with the Department of Internal Affairs. Since 2019, we have worked to build genuine, lasting connections between schools in New Zealand and China through cultural exchange programmes, principals’ delegations and the Discovering China programme.
About the Role
We’re looking for volunteers to be the friendly first point of contact between NZCEDA and New Zealand schools. It’s about starting conversations, sharing what we do, and helping school leaders and teachers understand how our programmes could benefit their students and communities.
What You’ll Do
- Reach out to schools and educational institutions across New Zealand to introduce NZCEDA and our programmes
- Answer questions from principals, teachers and school staff, and help them understand how the programmes work
- Build and maintain warm, respectful relationships with partner schools
- Share feedback from schools with our team, so we can keep improving
- Turn your conversations and project experiences into ideas and material for NZCEDA’s social media content
What We’re Looking For
- Clear, friendly communication skills in English (written and spoken)
- Genuine interest in education, cross-cultural exchange or community work
- Reliability and a strong sense of responsibility: schools are counting on consistent, respectful follow-up
- Comfortable reaching out to new people and listening as much as you talk
- Bilingual Chinese/English is a plus, but not required
- Ability to commit to the role over the longer term
What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on experience in education partnerships, stakeholder communication and non-profit work
- Direct contact with school leaders across New Zealand
- Opportunities to contribute to published content and real programme outcomes
- A reference or letter of recognition for sustained contribution
- Being part of a small, mission-driven team that values your input
How It Works
- 100% remote: work from anywhere in New Zealand
- No fixed hours; weekly tasks are shared in advance, so you can fit the work around study, work or family
- Training and background materials provided, with support from the team whenever you need it
How to Apply
Send a short introduction (a few lines about yourself and why this interests you) and your CV, if you have one, to [email protected]. Please put “Volunteer – School Outreach” in the subject line.
We’d love to hear from you.
