About the Opportunity

Tauranga Multicultural is looking for 4–6 friendly and reliable volunteers to help support our upcoming Powhiri event at Whareroa Marae on 14 November.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be involved in a special cultural occasion, connect with the community, and help create a welcoming and positive experience for everyone attending.

There are two time slots:

9.15am - 11am to help with Welcoming and ushering

11am - 2pm to help with lunch set up and clean up

Key Duties

  • Welcoming guests and helping them find their way around the venue.
  • Assisting with ushering and guiding attendees to the appropriate areas.
  • Helping set up the lunch area, including tables, chairs, and food arrangements as needed.
  • Assisting with general preparation to help ensure the event runs smoothly.
  • Working alongside other volunteers and the organising team.

Skills and Experience

No previous volunteering experience is necessary. We are looking for people who are friendly, approachable, reliable, and willing to lend a hand. Good communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to work as part of a team are important. An interest in different cultures and community events would be an advantage.
