
ABOUT ECOFEST
EcoFest is a month-long celebration of sustainability and caring for our unique environment across Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.
The annual festival, running 22 March - 22 April 2027 (finishing on Earth Day!), will feature a packed programme of events, activities, installations, and workshops for people of all ages and stages of their sustainability journey. Our aim is for participants to learn new skills, make new connections, and join a growing community of people who are committed to building a more sustainable future.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This opportunity has been split into different tasks that take place at different time intervals. You are welcome to be onsite regardless of which task(s) you are interested in, but a couple cannot be accomplished remotely.
Summary:
- Event-related administration and processing
- EcoFest digital promotion (socials, EDM)
- Festival guide and poster distribution
- Festival event on-the-day content creation and sharing
- English -> Mandarin collateral translation and Redbook posting
We would like 2 interns who can be inducted and trained up in 2026; and another couple who start in 2027 (2-4 total depending on task alignment and weekly availability)
Location:
Ideally based at Kaipātiki Project so you can more easily feel part of the team and have support on hand. However, some components can be done if you are based anywhere Tāmaki Makaurau, and others can be done fully remotely.
Role type:
Voluntary, unpaid internship. Part-time 8-15 hours p/wk.

YOU WILL:

Be passionate about sustainability

Have a good eye for details and excellent communication skills.
Depending on which part of the role you take on:

Have fluency in both English and Mandarin (1 intern only, for engaging with Redbook)

Have photography, videography and editing skills. Familiarity with social media trends a bonus.

Be familiar with eDM marketing like Mailchimp or willing to learn.

Have a good eye for visual storytelling and be familiar with using Canva to create social media content.

Have a full drivers license for onsite-only activities.
TASKS & TIMEFRAMES
Remote-friendly:

Work to a brief and deliver high quality content that is aligned with the EcoFest brand by the stated deadline

Produce and schedule compelling content and support the development of various communication campaigns such as newsletters and social media posts and reels (using Canva, Mailchimp, Meta Business Suite)

Utilise Google Drive, spreadsheets and WordPress website back end to process, track and finalise event registrations

Undertake data entry to help promote EcoFest events on different platforms

Get in touch with event organisers to clarify any issues with an event

Other back-end administration tasks as they come up.
22 March - early May 2027

Assist with back-end admin such as following up with event hosts to collect EcoFest feedback and collating data for reporting purposes

Put together collective impact stats and data and analyse performance of EcoFest digital campaigns.

Own vehicle strongly preferred; transport costs reimbursed.
22 March-22 April 2027
- Attend EcoFest events — will include evenings and weekends — to take photos and short videos for social media content, future EcoFest promotion and reporting.
- Put together short-form, event-specific, on-the-day social media content for EcoFest social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook) for organic promotion.
We encourage interns to use public transport to get to and from events, these travel costs would be reimbursed.
