Volunteer Coordinator - Generations Connect NZ

About Generations Connect NZ
Generations Connect New Zealand is a registered charity working to strengthen connections between generations in our communities. We promote, create and support opportunities for people of all ages to connect, share experiences and learn from one another.
As a growing initiative, we rely on passionate volunteers to help expand our reach and strengthen the way people can contribute to our mahi across Aotearoa New Zealand.
About the role
We are looking for a warm, organised volunteer to help us build and support a welcoming volunteer base.
This role focuses on helping volunteers feel welcomed, clear about their roles, and able to contribute in ways that are meaningful, manageable and connected to the purpose of Generations Connect NZ.
The Volunteer Coordinator will help create simple volunteer systems and support communication with people interested in volunteering with us.
You’ll work closely with the Founder/CEO initially to understand GCNZ, our current volunteer interest and where support is needed, with the opportunity to progressively take greater ownership of day-to-day volunteer coordination as the role develops.
What you might do
Activities may include:
- responding to volunteer enquiries
- helping match volunteers with suitable tasks
- keeping simple volunteer records
- checking in with volunteers
- helping develop simple volunteer role descriptions
- supporting communication with volunteers
- helping identify where volunteers can contribute to events, communications, story-gathering, administration, research or community activity
- helping volunteers feel connected to Generations Connect NZ’s wider purpose
Most activities can be completed remotely and at times that suit the volunteer, with regular check-ins.
Why volunteer with us
This is an opportunity to contribute to a growing community initiative that aims to strengthen relationships between generations.
You will help shape a volunteer structure from the ground up and support people of all ages and life stages to contribute their skills, experience and energy.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with people, is organised and reliable, communicates warmly, and is interested in community connection and intergenerational relationships.
Experience in volunteer coordination, community work, HR, admin, events, communications or people support would be helpful, but is not essential.
We welcome interest from people of all ages and life stages. GCNZ values the skills, experience and perspectives that different generations bring.
How to apply
Please send a short expression of interest telling us a little about yourself, your relevant skills or experience, and why this role interests you.
Expressions of interest will be reviewed as they are received.
