
ABOUT ECOFEST
EcoFest is a month-long celebration of sustainability and caring for our unique environment across Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.
The annual festival, running 22 March - 22 April 2027 (finishing on Earth Day!), will feature a packed programme of events, activities, installations, and workshops for people of all ages and stages of their sustainability journey. Our aim is for participants to learn new skills, make new connections, and join a growing community of people who are committed to building a more sustainable future.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This opportunity is split into two parts — the administration and communications support that is able to be accomplished remotely, and the onsite festival assistance that can only be done on-location. If interested, you are able to combine these duties in your role, depending on your availability.
Location: Waiheke Island with Waiheke Resources Trust
Role type: Voluntary, unpaid internship — full time or part-time offered
Time commitment options: Flexible: minimum of 12 hours p/wk for at least 6 weeks. Please note our focus areas during different time periods.
Responsible to: EcoFest Hub Lead, Internships Manager
YOU WILL:
- Be passionate about the environment

- Use initiative and be able to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Have excellent English fluency, attention to detail and communication skills
- Have the ability to take feedback and rework mahi in collaboration with others
- Be familiar with eDM marketing like Mailchimp or willing to learn
- Have a good eye for visual storytelling and be familiar with Canva or willing to learn.
REMOTE OR ONSITE DUTIES:
- Work to a brief and deliver high quality content that is aligned with the EcoFest brand by the stated deadline
- Assist in producing and scheduling compelling content and support the development of various communication campaigns such as newsletters and social media posts and reels (using Canva, Mailchimp, Meta Business Suite)
- Update WRT’s Google Adwords campaign for EcoFest to take advantage of NFP Google Ads Grant and optimise festival web presence
- Utilise Google Drive, spreadsheets and WordPress website back end to process, track and finalise event registrations
- Undertake data entry to help promote EcoFest events on different platforms
- Get in touch with event organisers to clarify any issues with an event
- Answer public and event host queries by assisting in monitoring emails and social media platforms
- Follow up with event hosts to collect EcoFest feedback and collate resultant data for reporting purposes
- Put together collective impact stats and data and analyse performance of EcoFest digital campaigns.
ONSITE ONLY:
- Attend EcoFest events to take photos and short videos for social media content, future EcoFest promotion and reporting.
- Assist in distributing promotional material and postering.
