ABOUT ECOFEST

EcoFest is a month-long celebration of sustainability and caring for our unique environment across Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.

The annual festival, running 22 March - 22 April 2027 (finishing on Earth Day!), will feature a packed programme of events, activities, installations, and workshops for people of all ages and stages of their sustainability journey. Our aim is for participants to learn new skills, make new connections, and join a growing community of people who are committed to building a more sustainable future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This opportunity has been split into different tasks that take place at different time intervals. You are welcome to be onsite regardless of which task(s) you are interested in, but a couple cannot be accomplished remotely. Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to a longer timeframe and/or can take on more tasks, so please be clear about what part(s) of the role you are interested in, and your availability.

Location: Ideally based at Beautification Trust so you can more easily feel part of the team and have support on hand. However, some components can be done if you are based anywhere Tāmaki Makaurau, and others can be done fully remotely.

Role type: Voluntary, unpaid internship.

Responsible to: EcoFest Hub Lead for Beautification Trust

YOU WILL:

  • Be passionate about sustainability

  • Adopt the hub's cultural statements, code of conduct, and policies
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a wider team
  • Display initiative and excellent communication skills.

TASKS & TIMEFRAMES

Remote friendly:

  • Dec 2026 - March 2027: 5-10 hours p/wk
    • Process event registrations; check through them and edit for accuracy and tone.
    • Get in touch with event hosts to clarify any issues with an event.
    • Answer public and event host queries by assisting in monitoring emails.
    • Have excellent attention to detail, fluency in English, and computer literacy.
  • February 2027: 2 hours p/wk
    • Enter data to help promote EcoFest events on different platforms.
    • Other marketing administration assistance.
    • Have excellent attention to detail and computer literacy.
  • 22 March - early May 2027: 4 hours p/wk
    • Follow up with event hosts to collect EcoFest feedback via phone.
    • Be a confident English speaker and polite phone manner.

On-location only:

  • mid-Feb-mid-March 2027: 10-15 hours p/wk
    • EcoFest printed programme and poster distribution.
    • Be confident in introducing yourself and asking permission at drop-off locations.
    • Have a full drivers license and able to travel to Beautification Trust to pick up collateral and org-owned vehicle.
  • 22 March-22 April 2027: 10-15 hours p/wk
    • Attend EcoFest events to take photos and short videos for social media content, future EcoFest promotion and reporting.
    • Put together short-form, event-specific, on-the-day social media content for EcoFest social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook) for organic promotion.
    • Have photography, videography and editing skills. Familiarity with social media trends a bonus.
    • Have ready access to public transport or own vehicle and be willing to travel.

Transport to and from Beautification Trust will not be covered, but you will be reimbursed or covered within the role (use of org vehicle for distribution; transport to and from events where relevant).
