Nelson Tasman Climate Forum: Volunteer Leadership Group Members

Help Shape the Future of Climate Action in Nelson Tasman
Do you believe Nelson Tasman can become one of Aotearoa's leading low-emissions, climate-resilient regions?
We're also looking for Leadership Group members
Each year, the Forum puts forward a Leadership Group, taking care to maintain a balance of returning and new members. The proposed members are then elected by the wider membership at our AGM at the end of November.
We're seeking people who are willing to stand for election, and who will bring governance experience or expertise in areas such as:
- governance and strategic leadership
- finance or accounting
- legal
- fundraising and philanthropy
- communications and marketing
- Māori partnerships and Te Tiriti practice
- local government or public policy
- environmental sustainability or climate change
- community development
- organisational development
- risk management
- human resources
- youth leadership
You don't need to be an expert in climate science to contribute. We're looking for people who share our vision, think strategically, ask good questions, and enjoy working collaboratively.
The Leadership Group meets once per month. They are responsible for the governance, financial stewardship, and strategic direction of the organisation.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and particularly encourage interest from younger leaders, Māori, Pasifika and others whose perspectives are under-represented in governance.
The Forum works alongside councils, iwi, community organisations and residents to build understanding, encourage collaboration and inspire practical climate action across our region.
Our work is supported by funding from Nelson City Council and delivered by a small team of three part-time contractors.
The Forum is managed by a group of representatives from its membership, known as the Leadership Group, which includes a Chair. A second Chair position is reserved for a representative of the Iwi.
What you'll gain
Serving in the Leadership Group is an opportunity to:
- help shape one of the region's leading community organisations
- contribute to meaningful climate action
- work alongside passionate and experienced people
- strengthen your governance experience
- help create a thriving future for Nelson Tasman.
