Board Member
Brain Injured Children’s Trust (BICT) is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and community‑minded individual to join our Board of Trustees. This is a meaningful opportunity to help shape the future of a small but high‑impact charity supporting Tamariki with brain injuries and their whānau across Aotearoa.
About BICT
BICT provides practical support, advocacy, and specialised resources to families navigating the challenges of childhood brain injury. Our work is grounded in dignity, hope, and partnership. We walk alongside whānau, helping them access therapies, equipment, information, and emotional support during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
The Role
We are looking for a new Board member who can bring wisdom, integrity, and a steady commitment to our Kaupapa. Ideally, you will be based in Tauranga or the wider Bay of Plenty, where most of our whānau and partners are located.
You do not need prior governance experience—what matters most is your willingness to learn, your alignment with our values, and your desire to make a real difference for children with brain injuries.
An additional bonus would be a lawyer or a retired lawyer.
We welcome people with strengths in:
- Community leadership or lived experience supporting whānau
- Health, disability, education, or social services
- Legal.
- Finance, HR, or governance
- Fundraising, partnerships, or communications
- Strategic thinking and collaborative problem‑solving
What you can expect
- A warm, supportive Board environment
- Clear induction and guidance
- Bi-monthly meetings (online or Tauranga‑based)
- The chance to directly influence outcomes for vulnerable Tamariki
- The satisfaction of contributing to a charity where every decision truly matters
