GO Dunedin is Otago's new garden festival! This festival is for and by nature lovers! GO Dunedin aims to connect people with the environment and to empower our community to live in harmony with nature.

The festival includes Otago Open Gardens at residences from Dunedin to Ōamaru over Labour Day Weekend. Gardens are open on ++Saturday and Sunday, 24-25 October from 9am to 4pm++. ++We are seeking volunteers to welcome and assist visitors at designated gardens.++

You do not need previous gardening experience to volunteer; we will provide training beforehand.

Key Duties

  • Welcoming visitors to the gardens.
  • Verifying tickets.
  • Sharing basic garden and festival information (e.g. opening hours, other participating gardens).
  • Indicate garden's key areas, facilities, entrances/exits, hazards.
  • Answering basic garden questions using information provided by garden owner and festival team.
  • Encourage visitors to follow garden guidelines (e.g. staying on garden paths, respecting private areas).
  • Manage visitor flow, particularly in busy periods.
  • Monitor entrance and garden area and report issues and emergencies to festival contact.
  • Collect basic visitor feedback.
  • Assist with set-up and pack-down.
