Aim High Education Centre is a disability education centre based in Northcote, Auckland. We are running a school holiday programme from Monday 28 September to Saturday 10 October 2026, from 9:30am to 3:00pm, Monday to Saturday.
We are looking for volunteers to provide 1:1 support to children and young people with disabilities during the programme. Our participants have a range of disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, intellectual and developmental disabilities, ADHD, Down syndrome and other support needs.
Volunteers will help participants take part in activities, provide individual support and guidance, and assist with their safety and participation throughout the day.
Activities include:
• Outdoor trips (Mondays, Thursdays): ice skating, rock climbing, Kiwi Valley, Crystal Mountain and clay & painting studio.
(Groups will travel together from Aim High Café.)
• Indoor Programmes (Tues, Wed, Fri, Sat): cooking, art, taekwondo, obstacle activities, music and candle making (Location: Korean Community Hall, 5 Argus Pl, Hillcrest)
- No previous experience is required.
- Anyone aged Year 11 or above can apply.
- A mandatory volunteer induction will be held on Saturday 26 September at Aim High Café, 17 Pearn Place, Northcote. - Training will cover health and safety, disability awareness, behavioural support, communication and practical 1:1 support. Volunteers must attend the induction to participate in the programme.
Volunteers do not need to attend every day and can choose the dates they are available.
