Board Members - Expressions of Interest for January 2027

Smith Street Community Farm is a community-led urban farm in Woolston, Christchurch, focused on growing food, growing people. We provide access to affordable, locally grown produce, community garden spaces, volunteering opportunities and practical pathways for people to connect with others and learn to grow kai. We work alongside community organisations, volunteers and the Department of Corrections to deliver meaningful community outcomes.

We are looking for Board Members to come onboard January 2027.

We are seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to join the Board of Smith Street Community Farm Trust and help guide the continued growth and development of the farm.

We are particularly interested in people who can contribute in one or more of the following areas:

• Funding applications and fundraising – identifying funding opportunities and helping prepare and submit grant applications.
• Governance – contributing to good governance, strategic planning, policies and oversight of the Trust.
• Treasury/financial support – assisting our Treasurer with budgeting, financial reporting, financial oversight and general treasury responsibilities.

You don't need to have experience in all of these areas. We are looking for people who are community-minded and willing to get involved and contribute their skills and experience.

This is a voluntary governance role and offers an opportunity to play an active part in the development of a growing community organisation and a valuable community asset in Woolston.

Location: Smith Street Community Farm, Woolston, Christchurch Role: Volunteer Board Member Commitment: Voluntary, with regular Board meetings and additional involvement as required.
