Trailblazers Charitable Trust

Do you enjoy encouraging young people? You don't need to be a runner—or even particularly sporty—to make a real difference.

Trailblazers is a Christchurch-based charity that uses walking, jogging and outdoor adventures to support young people experiencing anxiety, social isolation, neurodivergence, low confidence and other life challenges.

Many of our participants are taking their very first steps towards becoming more active. What they need most isn't a coach—they need a positive adult who will walk alongside them, encourage them and celebrate every success.

As a volunteer mentor, you'll usually support one or two young people during our weekly sessions, helping them build confidence, resilience, friendships and a lifelong enjoyment of movement.

No experience working with young people is necessary—we'll provide the training and ongoing support.

Commitment Tuesdays during school term 3:45 pm – 5:00 pm Hagley Park / nearby Christchurch locations Approximately 1¼ hours each week

We provide: Volunteer induction and programme training Child protection training Ongoing support from our experienced team Resources and mentoring throughout the term Police vetting at no cost A welcoming, supportive volunteer community

We're looking for people who are: Friendly and encouraging Reliable and consistent Patient and adaptable Comfortable walking or jogging at their own pace Passionate about helping young people thrive

You don't need to be fast, fit or athletic. Some volunteers walk the entire session—and that's absolutely okay. The relationship you build is far more important than how far or how fast you move.

Together we're helping young people discover confidence, connection and the belief that they can achieve more than they thought possible.
