About the Working Bee
MRCC is bringing our community together for a Working Bee to give our Centre a fresh-up!
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who would like to spend a morning working alongside others, helping to care for and maintain a shared community space.
Date and Time: Friday, 2 October 2026, 9am to 1pm (lunch provided)
Whether you enjoy gardening, cleaning, practical tasks, or simply lending a helping hand, there will be a range of activities to suit different skills, interests and abilities.
It's a great opportunity to meet people, contribute to your local community and help keep MRCC welcoming and well-maintained for the many community groups and people who use our Centre.
What will you be doing? Depending on your interests and abilities, tasks may include:
🌿 Grounds & Gardens:
- Planting and mulching
- Weeding garden beds
- Clearing paths and garden areas
- General garden tidy-up
🏠 Building Exterior:
- Window cleaning
- Washing down exterior areas
- Cleaning balconies
- Gutter and debris removal
🧹 Centre Cleaning:
- Cleaning walls and windows
- Cleaning common areas
- Tidying storage areas
- Cleaning kitchen areas
- Updating or refreshing signage
🔨 Repairs & Maintenance
- Minor furniture repairs
- Tidying and maintaining outdoor seating
- Minor maintenance and touch-ups
- Other practical jobs around the Centre
MRCC will provide the equipment needed for the working bee, including: Gloves and safety glasses, garden tools, buckets and cleaning cloths Hose and pressure washer, rubbish bags and other equipment.
Please wear suitable clothing and closed shoes.
Who are we looking for? We welcome people of all backgrounds, ages and skill levels who are:
- Friendly and willing to work as part of a team
- Reliable and happy to lend a hand
- Comfortable undertaking practical tasks
- Interested in supporting a community facility
- Respectful of our diverse and multicultural community
No specialist experience is required. Tasks can be matched to your skills, interests and comfort level.
