Youth Mentoring
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Bay of Plenty supported by Volunteering Services (BOP)

Big Brothers Big Sisters exists to create and sustain meaningful mentoring relationships between volunteer mentors and primary aged children. We believe all young people can realise their full potential and you could be the person to support them along the way! We run 2 core programs School Based and Community Based - Mentors are required to commit to at least an hour per week with their mentee with flexibility to suit you! We see our programs as interventional - by supporting young people to become the authors of their own stories we know mentoring can have a profound effect on how they view themselves and the world around them - We offer full training and support to volunteers and feedback suggests mentors get a huge sense of community investment from their experience - there is no agenda or expectation on volunteers - just simply forming a friendship with their mentee and having shared experiences.
