Conversation Partner - West Auckland

Volunteer Stroke Scheme

As a Conversation Partner, you will provide your client with the opportunity to enjoy social conversation. After completing training, you may be paired with someone nearby, depending on availability and suitability. You would visit your client once a week for about 1 hour. Some volunteers also have the option to support conversation groups.

Through the opportunity to have supported conversation, our clients gain confidence and social connection. Volunteers gain valuable skills through training and are well supported on an ongoing basis by a Speech-Language Therapist and Volunteer Coordinator.

If you're looking to make a meaningful difference in someone's life while developing new skills, we’d love to hear from you! Training is across 2 days (attendance at both required) and will be delivered in West Auckland on Thursday 3 September and Thursday 10 September, 10am - 2:30pm.

Volunteers must be good listeners, interested in learning about different ways of communicating, and fluent in spoken and written English. You will need your own transport.
