About the Role
The Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the people behind the mahi.
This role is about welcoming, connecting and supporting volunteers so they feel confident, valued and able to contribute in a way that works for them. You’ll help create a positive volunteer experience, making it easy for people to get involved and stay connected.
What You’ll Do
You’ll help:
- Welcome new volunteers and support them into roles that suit them
- Keep volunteers connected, informed, and supported
- Work alongside branch leaders to ensure there are enough volunteers across key activities

- Maintain simple volunteer coordination and records
At Bellyful, we believe in investing in our people. In this role, you’ll be supported by Bellyful NZ to help bring our Filling Bellies, Filling Minds volunteer development programme to life, supporting volunteers to grow in confidence, step into leadership, and feel connected, supported, and part of something bigger.
How It Works
You’ll work closely with the Branch Coordinator and wider leadership team, supporting volunteers across Cookathons, deliveries, and other activities. You’ll also be supported by Bellyful NZ and be part of a wider network of Volunteer Coordinators across the country.
What We’re Looking For
This role suits someone warm, welcoming and organised, with a good listening ear. It usually takes a few hours a month, depending on branch size. We’re looking for someone who can make an ongoing commitment to the role and be reliable, as the branch depends on clear, consistent communication and support. It’s incredibly rewarding to see someone new join, find their place and become part of the team.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Enjoys connecting with people
- Is organised and a good communicator
- Is welcoming and inclusive
- Cares about supporting others
- Wants to help create a positive volunteer experience
Time Commitment

You’ll help with communications, welcome new volunteers, explain how Bellyful works, answer questions and keep the branch database tidy. You’ll make sure current volunteers are kept in the loop and feel valued.
