Ko wai mātou – About us:
Abbeyfield provides warm, family style homes where older people can live independently while enjoying companionship and a strong sense of community. Each Abbeyfield house is supported by a local volunteer committee whose care and dedication help create the welcoming environment our residents call home.

He aha te tūranga – About the role:

Abbeyfield Whangārei are looking for an organised and reliable person to join our volunteer committee as Treasurer. What’s involved?

Preparing annual budgets and monthly financial reports. Overseeing accounts, banking, bookkeeping, and financial records. Monitoring income and expenditure, including resident receipts. Ensuring compliance with legal, funding, and reporting requirements. Liaising with the auditor and presenting annual accounts at the AGM. Supporting the committee with financial planning and fundraising as needed.

Ko wai koe – About you:

Well organised with strong attention to detail. Confident with budgets, accounts, and financial reporting. Knowledge of accounting principles and financial systems is preferred, but willingness to learn is welcome. Able to work collaboratively as part of a committee.

Additional information

The recruitment process will involve:
An interview with the committee.
Background check: An MOJ check is required because the role involves access to a home for vulnerable older adults and oversight for staff working in that setting.

In return, you will gain purpose, connection, and the satisfaction of helping older residents live comfortably and confidently in a home that feels like family.

If this resonates with you, we would love to hear from you.
