Lead an organisation that has been changing lives through education for generations.

About GWNZ

Graduate Women New Zealand is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering women through education. Through our branches around the country and our affiliation with Graduate Women International, we advocate for equity in education, connect graduate women in community and friendship, and fund scholarships that open doors for the next generation of women.

We're now looking for our next National President — someone ready to guide GWNZ's National Executive, champion our kaupapa, and help shape what comes next for our organisation and the women of New Zealand.

The Opportunity

As National President, you'll take the helm of an organisation with real impact and real heart. You'll chair the National Executive and work alongside passionate branch leaders, trustees, and members across New Zealand — and have the opportunity to represent GWNZ on the world stage through our connection with Graduate Women International.

This is a voluntary leadership role, ideal for someone who believes deeply in the power of education to change women's lives, and who has a passion for advocacy and connection.

What you'll do

  • Provide strategic leadership for the direction of GWNZ and the National Executive
  • Champion our advocacy work for girls' and women's education, locally and internationally
  • Support the GWNZ Charitable Trust in funding scholarships and awards for tertiary study
  • Represent GWNZ at Graduate Women International and within the wider community
  • Nurture strong relationships with branches, members, and partner organisations
  • Welcome new members and help grow a vibrant, connected network of graduate women

What you'll bring

  • A genuine passion for education and for empowering women
  • Leadership or governance experience (branch, community, corporate, or otherwise)
  • Confidence representing an organisation publicly, with warmth and integrity
  • The ability to bring people together and inspire volunteers
  • Time and commitment to serve the role — previous involvement with GWNZ is welcomed, but not essential

Why Say Yes

This is more than a title — it's a chance to lead a community of remarkable women, to influence real outcomes for students who might otherwise be overlooked, and to be part of a story that stretches back through decades of graduate women supporting one another. You'll be joining a warm, capable, and dedicated Executive team, and stepping into a role that has shaped the careers and confidence of the women who've held it before you.

If you can picture yourself championing this kaupapa — and want to help write the next chapter of GWNZ — we'd love to hear from you.
