Volunteer Visitor for Age Concern Wairarapa

Age Concern Wairarapa

A Volunteer Visitor for Age Concern is an opportunity to make a meaningful connection with an older person.

A visitor will be prepared to visit an older person at least once a week for approximately 1 hour.

What the volunteer visitor and the older person do during their time together is decided between the two people and can involve anything that both people are interested in and agree to.

A person suitable to visit an older person will have a genuine interest and empathy for older people. They will be good listeners and will be flexible.

The idea behind the visiting service is that it is a reciprocal beneficial relationship and both the visitor and the visitee will benefit from the relationship.

Age Concern have a process for volunteer visitors joining the visiting service which includes a meeting with the coordinator, a police check and referee checks being completed and a short induction training will be provided.
