Lawn and Garden Carer
Hornby Toy Library managed by Volunteering Canterbury

Love the smell of freshly cut grass? Find weeding strangely satisfying? Enjoy turning an ordinary space into one that makes people smile?
We're looking for a volunteer with a green thumb (or one that's willing to learn!) to help keep our Toy Library looking its best. Our outdoor spaces are the first thing families see, and your care helps create a warm, welcoming place for children to visit.
What you'll get up to:
Mow the lawns when they need a haircut.
Keep weeds from staging a takeover.
Trim and tidy plants and shrubs.
Sweep away leaves and keep paths safe.
Help plant flowers or add your own creative touch.
Let us know if you spot anything that needs fixing outdoors.
You'd be a great fit if you: Enjoy being outdoors. Take pride in making places look beautiful. Don't mind getting your hands a little dirty. Can spare a little time every now and then. Believe community spaces deserve a little love.
Why it matters
Every freshly mown lawn, every weed pulled, and every flower planted helps create a space where local families feel welcome. You won't just be caring for a garden—you'll be helping create happy memories for hundreds of children.
No meetings. No paperwork. Just fresh air, a little exercise, and the satisfaction of making a real difference.
